Advanced Technology Academy’s Mechatronics Program prepares students for high-demand careers in advanced manufacturing by combining classroom instruction, hands-on technical training, and college-level coursework. Through a strong partnership with Henry Ford College, students gain early exposure to industry-aligned skills while earning college credit and nationally recognized certifications.

Students in the program engage in a rigorous, applied learning experience that blends mechanical systems, electrical systems, automation, and computer-based technologies. Instruction takes place both on ATA’s campus and at Henry Ford College, giving students access to professional-grade labs, equipment, and real-world learning environments.

Hands-On Training with Industry-Standard Equipment

Thanks to a regional grant awarded to Henry Ford College, ATA received over $750,000 in state-of-the-art mechatronics equipment, allowing students to train using the same tools and systems found in modern manufacturing facilities. Coursework emphasizes hands-on learning in areas such as:

  • Hydraulics and pneumatics
  • AC/DC electrical systems
  • Motor controls and automation
  • Mechanical drives and systems
  • Welding and industrial safety
  • Troubleshooting, maintenance, and system diagnostics

Throughout the program, students connect technical skills to real industry applications through career exploration, work-based learning opportunities, and exposure to how advanced manufacturing operates in professional settings.

Mechatronics is a fast-growing, interdisciplinary field that integrates mechanical engineering, electronics, computer technology, and information systems. Graduates of the program are well prepared to pursue postsecondary education, apprenticeships, or entry-level positions in advanced manufacturing, automation, robotics, and industrial maintenance — fields that offer strong wages and long-term career growth.

Students train using industry-standard mechatronics equipment that mirrors real manufacturing environments. Each system supports hands-on learning, technical skill development, and real-world application across automation, electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
