OUR MISSION:

To provide students with high-quality interdisciplinary learning experiences that challenge them academically and develop their problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills. By building strong local partnerships with business and higher education, Advanced Technology Academy and our Ford PAS BEAC encourage and prepare students for success in college and professional careers in fields such as business, engineering, and technology.

What is ATA?

The Advanced Technology Academy is a charter public school serving students in Grades K-12 on its Dearborn campus.

The Academy is a Michigan Charter Public School Academy, authorized by Lake Superior State University and the Michigan Department of Education. It is governed by operating agreements among the charter public school, its management company, and Lake Superior State University.

Our Teachers

All teachers at the Advanced Technology Academy are certified by the Michigan Department of Education in their respective subject areas in keeping with the tenets of the No Child Left Behind Act and as such are all "highly qualified". Several members of the faculty also serve as adjunct faculty to Lake Superior State University and teach dual enrollment classes to our high school students.

Our Students

The Advanced Technology Academy is open to all students in Grades K-12. Our students are actively engaged in rigorous and rewarding instructional programs ultimately leading to a Ford PAS Associate degree. Students pursue career pathways in Business, Computer Science, and Engineering. These pathways are challenging and have a strong college preparatory focus. ATA course work bridges the gap between academic theory and real world applications.

Why a Charter School?

Charter schools have the freedom to be innovative and to build effective learning programs from the ground up. As of September 2006, Michigan had 216 operating charter schools with an enrollment of over 90,000 students.

What is a Charter School?

A charter school is a public school funded by the state and is free to all students. The community-based school is operated by its own board of directors, independently of other public schools. There are no residency requirements to attend ATA.

BENEFITS OF ATA:

-Private school environment
-Small class sizes
-Dress code
-Strong code of student conduct
-Curriculum aligned with Michigan Standards
-Earn college credit while completing high school
- Select ATA students can dual enroll as a guest student in regular LSSU courses offered by LSSU while attending ATA
