What is a Charter School?
A Charter School is a public school funded by the state and free to all students. The community-based school accepts all eligible students based on space availability and is operated by its own board independently of other public schools.

Charter Schools have the freedom to be innovative and to build effective learning programs from the ground up. As of November 2004, Michigan had 216 operating charter schools with a total enrollment of more than 82,000 students.Can I earn my high school diploma at ATA?
Yes, students can complete their high school education and earn a diploma in a university setting. With the adoption of the Ford PAS Program ATA now offers students the opportunity to earn an Associates Degree in Business from Lake Superior State University without ever leaving the campus.Do my classes count for college credit?
The ATA is authorized to deliver selected, pre-approved LSSU-numbered courses to qualified students under the supervision of the various academic departments of LSSU.Who should attend ATA?
The Advanced Technology Academy offers a rigorous college-focused curriculum. There is great emphasis on higher level skills especially in the areas of mathematics, computer science, business and engineering. Students are challenged in these career pathway areas of academic inquiry. In keeping with the philosophy of the Ford PAS Program, all ATA students are held to high academic standards leading to high achievement.Are ATA Teachers Certified?
All teachers at the Advanced Technology Academy are certified in their respective subject areas by the Michigan Department of Education and as such are "highly qualified" in keeping with the guidelines of the No Child Left Behind Act.
